I've been trying to watch all of AFI's top 100 movies of all time. I've only seen about one-third of them. Yesterday I watched Double Indemnity with Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray; directed by the classic Billy Wilder. It's about a woman (Stanwyck) planning to get an insurance claim on her husband, without his knowledge, and then killing him to receive the insurance money. It was made in 1944 and is in black and white. Lately I've been in love with black and whites! Overall I really enjoyed the movie! It has a great script and very entertaining to watch! I didn't care for the ending; hoping that MacMurray would somehow be able to get away with everything and come out clean in the end. I would highly recommend people watching it!
After the first 20 minuets of the movie I thought, "Ooooo, I could do that!!" -- but as the movie and my secret plotting went on I realized how much work would be involved in this task! Not sure I'll be looking to do that anymore? Too time consuming! He he.
Before the movie I went to vote for our new president! I decided to make "sad cookies" (no bake cookies with a recipe from Erin Drumright--best cookies ever!). My boyfriend, Anthony, and I are on different sides of the aisle. I'm not sure how we're able to talk politics civilly, but somehow it works! :) Anyway, each time a state went to the others political party we got to eat a "sad cookie", ha! It was a fun way of cheering on our votes! I was planning on going to my Young Republicans party, but decided to stay home with the old democrat (Anthony) and I'm not disappointed in my decision considering the turnout of the election!

First Blog; A Little about Moi!
Hi There!
My name is Kandace Black and I have been asked by several people to keep a blog of what's going on in my life, so here it is! Recently I graduated from Texas Tech University and moved to New York City. I've been wanting to live in The City for many, many years and decided when I graduated college I would move here, so I did just that. I had my degree, I was single, and I had a Very supportive family that encouraged me to follow my dreams. I didn't have a job nor did I know anyone here, so I made preparations for my move like saving money, selling my car, trying to network to meet people, and had a full plan of how and where'd I meet people. After I moved I found my first job out of college as an Audience Development Coordinator (basically an Admin. Assistant, but we'll use the fancy title). Now I try to stay busy with various activities and groups of friends. I'm having a Blast and have oh so many stories to share! But for my first blog I thought I'd begin by simply giving a little background on myself!
The title of my blog is inspired by the biography on Bette Davis (whom I Love!) called The Girl Who Walked Home Alone. I am very independent and live my life in the same way, so the title is a reflection of my role model Bette Davis and my independence. Because at the end of every day I do just that, walk home on my own!
My motto is: I want to celebrate and live my life! I always tell people the last thing I want to do is be a little old lady and feel like I missed something; so I try to live through people I meet and experiences I encounter!
As I update my blog I will share my experiences and share a little bit about myself.
I hope you enjoy my blog and I'd love to hear feedback!
